Flatmate Share Privacy Policy

Flatmate Share ("the App", "we", "our", or "us") is designed to help flatmates manage shared expenses, rent, household bills, balances, and settlements.

This Privacy Policy explains what information may be processed when you use Flatmate Share, how that information is used, and the choices available to you.

By using Flatmate Share, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information You Provide

Flatmate Share may allow you to enter information such as:

Your display name
Flat or household name
Flatmate names
Expense descriptions
Expense amounts
Expense categories
Information about who paid an expense
Information about who shares an expense
Custom expense split amounts

Invite codes
Other information you voluntarily enter into the App

This information is used only to provide the App's expense-sharing and flat-management functionality.

2. Local Data Storage

The current version of Flatmate Share is designed primarily to store app data locally on your device.

Information such as expenses, flatmates, bills, balances, settings, and settlement records may be stored using local device storage.

We do not sell your locally stored expense information.

If you uninstall the App, clear the App's storage, reset App data, or lose access to your device, locally stored information may be permanently deleted unless a backup or synchronization feature is provided in a future version.

3. Account and Sign-In Information

Flatmate Share may display options to sign in using services such as Google or Apple.

If third-party authentication is enabled in a production version of the App, the authentication provider may process information according to its own privacy policy.

Depending on the authentication method used, we may receive:

Name
Email address
Account identifier
Profile information provided by the authentication service

We do not receive your Google or Apple account password.

If the version of Flatmate Share you are using operates entirely locally without production authentication, no Google or Apple account information is transmitted to us.

4. Flat and Invite Information

Flatmate Share may generate invite codes or invite links that allow other users to join a shared flat.

When you copy or share an invite code or invite link, that information may be handled by:

Your device clipboard
Messaging apps
Email apps
Social apps
Other services you choose to use

These services are controlled by their respective providers and are subject to their own privacy policies.

You should only share invite codes with people you trust.

5. Expense and Financial Information

Flatmate Share allows users to record information about shared expenses and payments.

This may include:

Rent
Groceries
Electricity
Wi-Fi
Maid or household service costs
Other shared expenses
Amounts paid by individual flatmates
Amounts owed between flatmates
Settlement records

Flatmate Share is an expense-tracking and calculation tool.

The App is not a bank, financial institution, payment processor, digital wallet, or money-transfer service.

Unless explicitly stated within the App, payments recorded as settled are records entered by users and do not represent money transferred through Flatmate Share.

Information processed through Flatmate Share may be used to:

Create and manage a shared flat
Add and manage flatmates
Record expenses
Calculate expense shares
Calculate balances between flatmates
Track who paid for an expense
Track who owes money
Record settlements
Manage recurring bills
Search and filter expenses
Display spending history
Generate and manage invite codes
Maintain App preferences
Improve reliability and functionality

We do not use your expense data for targeted advertising.

7. Information We Do Not Sell

We do not sell or rent your personal information to advertisers, data brokers, or other third parties.

We do not sell information about:

Your expenses
Your flatmates
Your balances
Your payment records
Your household spending

8. Third-Party Services

Certain versions of Flatmate Share may use third-party services for features such as authentication, crash reporting, analytics, cloud storage, or other supporting functionality.

If these services are added, they may process certain technical or account information according to their own privacy policies.

Possible third-party services may include Google services, Apple services, Firebase, or other infrastructure providers.

This Privacy Policy will be updated if the App begins collecting or sharing additional information through such services.

9. Analytics and Advertising

The current version of Flatmate Share does not require your expense information to be used for advertising.

If analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting technologies are introduced in a future version, this Privacy Policy and the applicable app-store data disclosures will be updated accordingly.

10. Device Permissions

Flatmate Share may request device permissions only when required for a specific feature.

Depending on future functionality, this could include permissions related to notifications or other device features.

You can manage App permissions through your device settings.

11. Notifications

If notifications are added or enabled, Flatmate Share may use them to remind you about:

You can disable notifications at any time through your device settings.

If cloud-based flat sharing is introduced, certain flat information may need to be shared between members of the same flat for the App to function.

13. Data Retention

For information stored locally, data generally remains on your device until you:

Delete the relevant information
Reset App data
Clear the App's storage
Uninstall the App

If cloud storage or user accounts are introduced, server-side retention and deletion procedures will be described in an updated Privacy Policy.

14. Data Deletion

You can remove locally stored information using available delete, reset, or account-management features in the App.

You may also remove local App data through your device settings or by uninstalling the App.

If a future version stores account information on our servers, users will be provided with a method to request deletion of their account and associated personal data.

Flatmate Share is not specifically designed for children under the age of 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
